Vilnius Combined Heat and Power Plant (CHP) biofuel unit started in June 2023. Vilnius CHP is one of the most modern combined heat and power plant in Europe. The annual production capacity of electricity is about 100 MW, whereas thermal capacity 240 MW. The annual consumption of biomass with a full capacity will be 0.5 million tons.
The new plant will significantly increase the domestic wood demand. The annual cutting volumes in Lithuania has varied between 6.5-7.5 million m3 in recent years, of which more than 20% has been exported mainly to Nordics and Poland.
Dasos funds are the second largest private forestland owner in Lithuania. The increasing domestic demand for small-diameter wood and harvesting residues are seen very positive thing.
