New rare earth minerals have been found for the first time in Finland

Two new earth minerals, kukharenkoite and cordylite, have been found in Sokli in the proximity of forest properties held by Dasos funds, being the world largest carbonatite deposit. This is the first time that these minerals have been discovered in Finland. The found minerals are needed, for example, in wind turbines and batteries of electric cars. These findings are a step towards the goal to safeguard the production of unique minerals’ self-sufficiency in Europe.
